I purchased two HTP Ultra-Thin Hydronic Fan Coil Cabinet units to upgrade my current Slant-Fin radiators in November 2019. These units Submittal Sheets declared these units had thermostat interface into their motherboard. My units did not. I could not control these units through the normal zone control thermostats in the room they were installed. The circuit diagrams passed on the units also confirmed they did not have have a thermostat wire harness circuit or interface.
I called HTP Tech Representative Manager and found that he and his Tech had quit. After some more calling to the company directly I was given the new HTP Tech Representative Manager and emailed him. He could not confirm this problem and dropped it on his Tech without giving the Tech any background. This was down at the end of his work day like he had a higher priority to go home than to deal with this problem.
The HTP Tech could not help with this problem either via emailing. The discussion became a circular argument and I had to close off the discussion.
My heating company installed the two HTP fan coil cabinets and set them up to run independently of the room thermostat. That is each unit has its own temperature control which has to be set up to the temperature you want that area at, e.g. 70F and the fan is set at Auto. When I turn on the main room zone thermostat and the boiler comes on the two HTP fan coils heat up and their fans come on and off as their own thermostats see the area temperature.
I then contacted HTP Comfort Solutions LLC via their web site form email and explained the problem again and asked this message to be forwarded to their engineering people. I have received no reply in over a month or so.
I am an electrical engineer, BSEE from Montana State University with a Masters in Industrial Engineering and Business. The documentation sent with these units is generic with no company designation. It is not well written. We had to go online to find additional more technical documentation but found it was out of date, i.e. not covering the two HTP fan coils were sent.
After this ordeal, I have a suspicion that these units are not made in America. It appears they are being misrepresented as being manufactured by HTP Comfort Solutions LLC of 272 Unchained Blvd, New Bedford, MA 02745. They have no configuration control of what they are selling and therefore cannot help with basic installation problems. This problem is much worse as I received units that do not operate as I ordered.
We are at the beginning of our winter months in Montana and I could not send these two fan coil cabinet heaters back and wait for months for the correct ones because the manufacture cannot even answer these basic questions. I think the big problem here is this is an imported product HTP Comfort Solutions LLC pretends to manufacture while having no idea of the exact design. |
